2018 has been a very busy year, with a number of new things being introduced to run alongside our usual services.
New Classes: The new workshops and performance classes were a big hit, so we will be running these again next year (with a slight twist).
Student Concert: The student concert provided a superb evening of entertainment and planning is already in motion for the next one.
Booking System: We moved into the 21st century and started using an online booking system, allowing you to change/cancel your lessons and conveniently see what other lesson times we have available.
Guitar Shop: CGA now also has it’s own classical guitar shop, selling everything from classical guitars to strings, cases and accessories.
New Teacher: Due to the number of extra students and enquiries we’ve had this year, Catherine Brooks is now offering lessons at CGA.
Guitar Ensemble: In the tail end of the year, we reintroduced the guitar ensemble at a new, larger venue, meaning we can grow this into something spectacular in 2019. Click here to join the group.
So what can you expect from CGA in 2019?
Guitar Lessons: The heart of the CGA is our guitar tuition. We’ll be making sure you receive the best possible tuition while giving you the flexibility to fit in lessons to suit your lifestyle.
Masterclasses: Workshops will be replaced with masterclasses in 2019. The masterclass format allows you to observe a lesson and see how other people learn. A popular format at music conservatoires and festivals.
Performance Classes: These classes will run exactly aslast year. A handful of guitarists each playing a piece of music and receiving feedback from those in the studio.
Student Concerts: Yes, plural. The plan is to host two student concerts; one formal, one informal. The formal concert will be later in the year and have a similar format to previous years. The informal concert will take place at a café or other informal space and offer a different environment in which to perform.
Guitar Ensemble: This will continue into 2019. I’d like to grow our membership as much as possible, so please do invite other classical or acoustic guitarists if you think they might be interested.
Guitar Shop: The shop will also continue to run in 2019. We’re gradually acquiring more stock, so if you need anything such as strings, a new case, music stand, guitar stand etc, please let either myself or Catherine know.
