About The CGA
At the CGA, our mission is simple. We want to provide the best guitar lessons in Derby, and we won’t quit until our reputation becomes synonymous with this goal.
Having completed a BMus (Hons) degree in classical guitar studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and having taught the guitar in various forms since 2005, Ed Peczek is certainly one of the most qualified guitar teachers in Derby. His expertise and knowledge of the instrument combined with his vast experience of teaching the guitar across various disciplines make him an ideal teacher for anyone wanting to learn to play the instrument. But at the CGA, guitar lessons are just the beginning…
In addition to providing expert tuition to people of all ages and abilities, the CGA also offer a range of special opportunities. Workshops, master classes and intimate concerts are too often the reserve of university and conservatoire students. Our goal is to bring these very same opportunities to all students at the Classical Guitar Academy in Derby. As the CGA grows, we will be able to host more special events on a regular basis, offering CGA students the chance to access these vital and highly beneficial musical experiences as often as possible.
Guitar tuition has evolved dramatically over the past 10-15 years. A weekly lesson is no longer enough. That’s why we’re building a database of online lessons to help support your tuition. We hope that the content, photos and videos you’ll find in our online lesson library will prove to be a valuable resource in helping you to get the most from your tuition.
Another part of our mission is to change the outdated and misleading reputation that the classical guitar seems to have gained. The classical guitar is often seen as a more ‘high brow’ instrument compared to it’s close relatives; the acoustic and electric guitar. Because of this reputation, it tends to get ignored by younger students in favour of these more popular instruments. But the truth is that the classical guitar has just as much to offer in terms of enjoyment and culture. Because of it’s more lengthy history, there is a wealth of music to discover. This repertoire varies greatly in style and can provide no end of satisfaction. In addition to period music from around the world, the classical guitar repertoire also incorporates many interesting contemporary world music styles such as the Brazilian bossa nova and Argentinian tango. The guitar’s versatility lends itself well to many styles and part of the CGA mission is to help as many people as possible discover these musical gems.
Learning to play an instrument should always feel like a positive experience every step of the way. At the CGA we instill this positivity into everything we do. It’s our belief that a positive learning environment produces the best results. We also aim to provide long term benefits, not just in music but in all aspects of our students lives.
We’re also big advocates of having fun! We believe lessons should be fun and exciting, not rooted in grinding out results at the expense of your enjoyment. We want you to look forward to your guitar appointments and will do everything we can to make sure you’re enjoy every single lesson.
