FAQs

How do I join the ensemble?2023-12-05T15:35:06+00:00

Simply book onto a rehearsal using the button below!

Is there a minimum playing standard?2023-12-05T15:32:39+00:00

We advise that players reach approximately Grade 2 standard before joining the ensemble. By this stage, you’re likely to have developed a good enough sense of time and will be able to manage playing in a group more easily.

How much does it cost?2023-12-05T15:31:00+00:00

Each rehearsal costs £8. This is payable via BACS transfer in advance, or cash on the day.

Is there an audition process?2023-12-05T15:41:02+00:00

No, but if you’re new to CGA and have not had a lesson before, it would be good to have a chat first to establish how best you might fit into the ensemble. Your parts will be tailored to your playing level and experience for maximum enjoyment.

Do I need to bring anything?2023-12-05T15:27:45+00:00

Please bring a music stand along with the sheet music you have been given. It’s also helpful to bring a foot stool or support if you use one.

Oh, and your guitar (obviously)!

Do I have to attend every rehearsal?2023-12-05T15:26:03+00:00

No, but it’s advisable to attend as many as you can so we get used to playing with each other. Having a regular desk buddy is very helpful as you will learn to rely on each other over time. That’s a big part of learning to play in an ensemble!

How will I know what to play?2023-12-05T15:24:34+00:00

All participants are given notation/TAB (your choice) for every piece of music the ensemble plays. This is provided ahead of your first rehearsal so you can practice.
