In the year 1864 Antonio de Torres build the FE 17 for his own use. In 1869 at the age of 17, Francisco Tárrega visited the Torres workshop with the intention of purchasing a guitar. The instrument Tárrega was planning to buy was much more modest than the FE17 built in 1869, but upon hearing him play, Torres offered this special guitar to Tárraga .
It was the sound of this guitar that inspired Tárrega and set him on the journey to composing some of the most famous pieces ever written for classical guitar, including Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Capricho Arabe and Gran Vals. Emilio Pujol, one of Francisco Tárraga’s most talented and subsequently well known pupils remarked that the FE17 was the best guitar he had ever heard.
The FE17 replica by Wolfgang Jellinghaus remains true to the original in many aspects, but comes with the option of various woods for the back/sides. This model features Maple back/sides and a breathtaking antique finished spruce top.

“Just received an Amalio Burguet 2M by mail. Arrived, beautifully packed, in superb condition. After tuning had my first acquaintance with it. Lovely tone which I am sure will improve with playing time. Turned the instrument over in my hands for close inspection. First-rate construction under superb high-gloss finish. Thanks for swift supply & responses via email.”

“Been playing guitar since I was 15 (am now 59), bought my first classical guitar in 1985 and recently decided I needed a better one. After some discussion with Ed at the Classical Guitar Academy about all things guitaristic (Ed is very knowledgeable and always enthusiastic) I tried a few of the guitars Ed had in stock. I knew what I was looking for and Ed understood what I was looking for and I have ended up with a superb Antonio Sanchez guitar. I had also tried a few guitars in a few of the mainstream shops but did not get anything like the help and advice I got from Ed – he understands what it’s all about!”
