Doug Hawkey’s concert model delivers incredible power and depth in all registers. There is a glorious weighted feeling to every note, with immense musical resonance that is well sustained. Despite this cavernous depth of tone, there is also a keen sense of definition and clarity, caressing and shaping each note into a bell like tone. Sustain is excellent, both individually and with notes played as part of a chord/arpeggio.

Doug Hawkey’s concert guitar offers a instrument of supreme tonal quality that delivers well above it’s price tag. Having only turned his hand to luthiery in retirement, it’s the absence of a long career, and the reputation that would come with it, that prevents this guitar from being listed at a much higher price.
