2NE
The José Ramírez 2NE is a beautifully crafted Spanish classical guitar, combining the rich musical heritage of one of Spain’s most celebrated guitar-making families with the refinement and reliability of modern construction.
Part of the renowned Ramírez NE series, introduced in 2008, the 2NE builds upon the firm’s long tradition of producing instruments with a distinctive Spanish character. Its warm, rounded voice, excellent tonal depth and comfortable playability make it an appealing choice for the advancing guitarist seeking an authentic Spanish instrument.
The 2NE features a solid red cedar soundboard paired with solid Indian rosewood back and sides, a classic combination that contributes to its rich, warm tonal character and excellent resonance.
The choice of cedar is particularly significant in a Ramírez guitar. It was José Ramírez III who pioneered the widespread use of cedar soundboards in classical guitar making during the 1960s, challenging the long-established preference for spruce. His experiments helped establish cedar as one of the principal soundboard materials used by guitar makers around the world today.
The 2NE possesses many of the tonal qualities for which Ramírez guitars have become so well regarded: a warm, dark and rounded sound, with particularly satisfying basses and a sweet, lyrical treble.
Its cedar soundboard offers an immediate, responsive character, rewarding a sensitive touch while providing plenty of scope for dynamic expression.
There is a pleasing richness to the instrument’s voice, with a rounded quality that suits the expressive demands of the classical repertoire particularly well. The trebles have a singing character, complemented by a full bass register that lends depth and warmth to the overall sound.
For players drawn to the traditional Spanish sound, the 2NE offers an attractive combination of musicality, tonal warmth and responsiveness.
Despite being secondhand, this guitar is in near mint condition with, by the previous owner’s admission, had very little use since initial purchase. It is therefore a particularly clean example of a fine José Ramírez NE series guitar and therefore represents superb value for money.
This José Ramírez 2NE is available with our 14-day home trial, giving you the opportunity to explore its character and playability in familiar surroundings.
