Antigua
Teodoro Pérez, born in Soria in 1952, began his journey in luthiery after moving to Madrid in 1966 to apprentice in the esteemed José Ramirez III workshop. In 1991, he founded his own workshop, which later became a family endeavour when his son Sergio joined him.
The Teodoro Perez Antigua is based on an older, smaller guitar (Antigua meaning ‘ancient’ or ‘antique’ in style), with a narrower 51mm nut, this guitar promises to offer the player the most comfortable playing experience whilst still providing the concert quality tone of Teodoro Perez’s Concierto model.
Tonally, the guitar does indeed share remarkable similarities with the ‘Concierto’ model which Teodoro Perez has aimed to emulate in this clever design. Impeccably clear trebles sing sweetly atop deeply resonant and roundly shaped basses. The attack is almost glass like as the string leaves the nail, before opening up into a rich and sonorous note with a plump body and bell like tone.
Built from start to finish by Teodoro Perez himself, this is a true master grade concert guitar by one of Spain’s most celebrated and renowned modern luthiers.
