Bavaria 1A (2023)
The Bavaria 1A is based strongly on a legendary 1937 Hermann Hauser guitar, once owned and played by a certain Andrés Segovia, who described it as the best guitar he ever played.
At the beginning of the 20th century, electricity and technology changed music forever. For the first time in history it was possible to store music on records, tape recorders or broadcast music by radio.
Andrés Segovia was the first worldwide superstar of the classic guitar. Before his Hermann Hauser guitar, he mainly played guitars made in the workshop of Manuel Ramirez. When Segovia visited the workshop of Hermann Hauser, he asked him to build guitars in a similar style. The result is a guitar Segovia admired very much, considering it the best guitar in his collection.
The original instrument is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.
This secondhand model from 2023 is still in excellent condition. There is light marking consistent with regular use and a small mark near the bridge where a string has come loose during a previous string change. The tone is outstanding; a powerful and rounded treble sits atop a firmly defined bass. A concert guitar of exceptional standard and befitting of any guitarist who aspires to attain the highest tonal quality.
