Guitar Lessons & Classes
Guitar lessons and classes are central to Classical Guitar Academy. We offer a wide range of tuition services to suit musicians of all ages and abilities. Our lessons and classes are flexible to allow you to engage on a commitment level that suits you, whether that’s weekly guitar lessons at the studio, once or twice a month at our guitar ensemble rehearsals, or occasional ad hoc involvement in one of our workshops or performance classes.
We embrace musicians at all stages of their journey, including absolute beginners to aspiring professional level guitarists. We tailor the delivery of our lessons and classes to suit your individual needs, ensuring you get the most value from every interaction you have with the services provided by Classical Guitar Academy.
Guitar Lessons
Guitar lessons are the cornerstone of our tuition services. Our guitar teacher, Ed Peczek, graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has been teaching since 2005. He is a greatly experienced classical guitar specialist and is hugely passionate about teaching the guitar to others.

Classical Guitar Academy runs a number of guitar classes every year, each with a unique musical focus. Classes offer a communal element to learning to play the guitar that is often missing in private tuition. Our guitar classes are designed to be fun, engaging and thought provoking for everyone involved. Well worth trying out if you’re looking for something to add more interest into your current programme of learning.
Our two main class formats are guitar workshops and performance classes.
We run 3-4 guitar workshops every year, each focusing on a unique aspect of learning to play the classical guitar. Previous workshops have covered topics such as posture, nail shape and right/left hand technique. We’ve even done some workout classes to make participants break a sweat!
Our performance classes help to bridge the gap between the practice room and the stage. Participants get chance to play to a handful of other guitarists in the comfort of the Classical Guitar Academy studio. Constructive feedback is provided along with a recording and written notes so you can review your performance at a later date and plan practice based on feedback from the class.
Guitar Ensemble
The Classical Guitar Academy guitar ensemble is an amateur group for classical guitarists who enjoy playing together. We welcome guitarists of all ages, providing they have reached grade 2 standard on their instrument. We’re a friendly bunch and all newcomers will be warmly welcomed.
Rehearsals take place twice per month in Derby. Members of the ensemble can attend as many or as few rehearsals as they like, however we encourage regular attendance as far as possible, as this helps the group to perform at it’s best!
