Arrange time to try an identified guitar, compare a considered selection or ask about discussing an instrument by video with Classical Guitar Academy.
Choose an in-person appointment at the CGA studio in Allestree, or arrange an online video appointment.
Play an identified guitar or compare a considered selection in the private Allestree studio. You can listen closely, discuss how each instrument feels and ask for guidance as you work through the differences.
A complete shortlist and advanced playing ability are not conditions of arranging a visit.
Arrange a studio appointmentAn online video guitar appointment gives you a live way to look more closely at particular instruments, discuss the differences between them and ask about details that are difficult to judge from a listing alone.
A video call cannot reproduce the sound or feel of playing the guitar yourself, but it can help clarify a shortlist before you decide what to do next.
Ask about a video appointmentSpend time exploring any guitar that is of interest to you. Get a feel for what you like and narrow down your preferences.
You may have questions that have not been answered by the information we have already provided. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have.
Choosing a guitar is highly personal. Discussing each fine detail in depth with a professional guitarist can help to improve your understanding of precisely what you’re looking for in a guitar.
If you’re nervous about playing in front of another guitarist or would just like to hear the guitars from a different perspective, we can play them for you. Sit back, listen, assess and compare.
Here is what to expect before, during and after your appointment.
ASK A QUESTIONLet us know which guitars you’re interested in, or the type of guitar you are interested in. You can also specify criteria such as shorter scale or country of origin, and we will discuss your options with you and make initial recommendations.
Explore the guitars in full. Listen to the sound, get a feel for how they handle, ask any questions you might have and discuss your needs in much deeper detail. You may decide to purchase a guitar, or you may prefer to wait for something different. We will assist you whatever your choice.
If you’ve purchased a guitar, we’re on hand with aftercare to answer any post-purchase questions. If you’re still looking, we may follow up with recommendations if we acquire guitars in the future which may be of interest. These recommendations are based strongly on any preferences discussed during your appointment.
The studio is a private, appointment-only space rather than a public walk-in shop. Please arrange and confirm your visit before travelling.
Arranging or attending an appointment does not itself hold an instrument. If you want to reserve a guitar while the next step is arranged, use CGA’s separate reservation process and wait for the reservation confirmation.
Contact CGA to arrange a studio visit or an online video appointment. Tell us which guitars you would like to explore and when you are available. Your appointment is confirmed when CGA replies.
