Teodoro Pérez, born in Soria in 1952, began his journey in luthiery after moving to Madrid in 1966 to apprentice in the esteemed José Ramirez III workshop. In 1991, he founded his own workshop, which later became a family endeavour when his son Sergio joined him.

The Teodoro Pérez workshop have a great reputation for producing concert instruments of a high calibre, whether it’s made by Teodoro, Sergio or Marco. In addition to a fine range of high end concert guitars, Teodoro Pérez also put their name to a couple of high end studio guitars; the Madrid and Estudio C-650. Unlike their concert guitars, both of the studio models are not made in the Pérez workshop, but at another larger workshop in Spain (the details of which are a closely guarded secret).

This is not uncommon of course, with other high end bespoke makers such as José Ramirez also making use of third party manufacturers to produce their studio range guitars. Most smaller workshops simply don’t have the facilities to produce enough studio grade guitars to be financially viable. The choice is therefore to design a guitar and have it made in a larger facility or have no studio range whatsoever.

Providing you can look past this, both the Madrid and Estudio C-650 have a lot to offer the player. And afterall, it’s the playing experience that really matters and not the label inside in instrument. The Estudio C-650 is Teodoro Pérez’s thoughtfully crafted study model, designed to provide exceptional quality at an accessible price. This guitar showcases beautiful craftsmanship, from its carefully selected woods to its elegant finish, intricate bindings, and striking rosette. Its sound embodies the renowned Madrid style: powerful, with full, resonant notes, deep basses, and a singing, expressive tone. With a comfortable neck and a responsive right hand feel, the C-650 offers an enjoyable and effortless playing experience.

The Madrid model is one of Teodoro Pérez’s most accessible concert guitars. True to its name, it embodies the hallmarks of the Madrid tradition: exceptional power, impressive projection, deep basses, resonant singing notes, and a warm, rounded timbre. With its comfortable neck and responsive playability, this instrument is designed to deliver both performance and ease. A refined choice offering exceptional value for discerning players.
