New Arrival: Ryan Gibson
We’re exited to announce the arrival of a brand new Ryan Gibson guitar, now available from the Classical Guitar Academy shop!
Ryan’s guitar matches a carefully chosen piece of European Spruce with eye catching Wenge to create a stunning instrument that sounds as good as it looks.
Traditional Spanish design is at the heart of Ryan’s classical guitars which are based on Torres’ 5 to 7 fan strut design. Employing the same methods that have been passed down for generations.
His concert model is dimensionally similar to Torres’ concert guitars with a more modern shape inspired by Daniel Friederich. Ryan’s construction method is the very traditional Spanish. Using a domed board (solera) the soundboard is constructed first with the neck then attached. The sides are fitted to the slipper heel and finally the back is fitted last.
About Ryan Gibson
Ryan Gibson is an award winning young luthier based in Stirlingshire, Scotland. Ryan began his career as a musician rather than a maker, studying at the Guitar Institute in London.
After finding that the guitars currently on the market could not fulfil his ever increasing musical demands, Ryan set out on making his own. Following 2 years of study on the Stringed Instrument Making Course at Anniesland College in Glasgow, Ryan embarked on a career in the field of guitar lutherie.
Ryan’s guitars earned him the Overall Prize for Musical Instruments at the annual Craftex event in Glasgow, and he now enjoys a successful career as a full time guitar luthier.
